Shabby Chic/Vintage Tag

Hi everyone, I recently held a group tag swap over on UK & Ireland Craft Swaps on Facebook and the theme was Shabby Chic/Vintage. My partner in the swap was Tina and this is the Tag I made for her.

This photo shows the finished Tag

This is a close up of the tag showing the flowers and crackle effect
on the birdcage

I titled the Tag "I know why the caged bird sings"
by Maya Angelou

If you live in the UK or Ireland and are interested in joining the UK & Ireland Craft Swaps group look it up on Facebook, then "like" the page then you can join in with any of the swaps taking place.

Have a great day, happy crafting

The "SURF SHACK" Beach Hut Mini Album for Craft Island DT

Hi everyone,

Well it looks like summer is officially over for another year but I bet you have some really wonderful memories and photographs of your happy times in the sun that you will want to show off in style. If you do then I have just the thing - this beautiful beach hut min album will not only store all you fab photos but it will look great sitting in your home too.

It looks complicated to construct but really it was quite simple. Check out the photos, while I will explain how it all came together.

The "SURF SHACK"

The fence was constructed using a combination of Balsa wood and lolly pop sticks which I painted using white paint and aged with distress inks (vintage photo)
After constructing the main body of the hut with cardboard sheets, I then went on to cover it with white Bazzill card Stock made to look like shiplap boarding which I had added some Distress ink around the edges to give it a weatherd look.
The roof of the hut was made from cardboard sheets that I then covered with corrugated card stock which was once again given an aged and worn appearance using Distress inks.

The roof of the hut also forms the covers for the mini album which sits inside the hut.
I used twine to bind the internal pages of the mini to the roof.
I then added a porch roof using corrugated cardboard and balsa wood from my stash to add more detail.

I made the door from lolly sticks and painted it white then did a crackle effect over the top with some blue paint.
I used three sheets of paper from the "Splash" collection by Little Yellow Bicycle to cover the inside of the hut, I stuck this down using a wet glue.
I also decorated the cover with seashells, moss and starfish from my stash. I then added the album title using die cuts and paper from the collection.
The pages of the mini album were made using coloured card stock . I covered the pages using the LYB 6x6 paper pad from the "Splash" collection.
I added photo mats to the pages using card stock and added embellishments from the "Splash" collection.
I made journaling tags in the form of Surf Boards which I cut free hand from cardboard sheets and then covered these with the papers.
I added more elements from the sticker sheet from the "Splash" Collection which I stuck onto card stock and then added to the pages to form pockets to hold the surf board tags.

I also made large photo mats from coloured card stock which fitted inside the pockets.

I hope this Beach Themed mini album has inspired you to have ago at making your own unique creation. Be sure to check out Craft Island for all your supplies and most of all "Have Fun".

Until next time.
