"Santa's Express" DT project for Craft Island's Christmas Blog Hop

Hi everyone welcome to my blog post. If you have come here from Katy's blog  then you are in the right place. I hope you like what I have created for Craft Island Design Team Christmas Blog Hop using the latest BoBunny "Mistletoe" Collection.

These papers are great, so colourful and vibrant and very easy to use - the ideas will just keep flowing.

SANTA'S EXPRESS

For this fab little train I used the Train Tidy from Kaisercraft's Beyond The Page Collection which I then covered using the beautiful "Mistletoe" 12"x12" papers by BoBunny.

I stuck the papers down using PVA glue from my stash and then cut around the shape with my craft Knife.

Once the train was covered in the papers I then attached all the parts together using PVA in all of the joints for extra support. Although this looks complicate to build I found that it was quite easy.

Having constructed the train I then had to decide what to do about the wheels. I decided to punch out some circles using Bazzill card stock and added them to the sides of the engine and carriages. I didn't do the same for the underside of the train, this I painted with black Acrylic paint.

I punched out a few more circles using the Mistletoe papers and added these to the wheels for decoration along with some buttons.

Then came the best bit - decorating the train. First I made some pockets out of Bazzill card stock and patterned papers and stuck these onto the side of one of the carriages. I then cut out some of the elements from the Mistletoe papers and used some of the stickers from the sticker sheet, these I glued these onto some Bazzill card stock which gave them added strength. I then used these tags to add to the train by putting them into the pockets.

I added some beaded trim (I think it looks like icicles) to the engine using hot glue and added some more of the stickers to the side.

I added some beaded trim to the top of the Engine for decoration (I think it looks like icicles) which I attached with hot glue.

Once I had finished decorating the train I needed to think of something to put in it. In the end I decided on a TP mini album (a mini album which is made out of empty toilet paper rolls) for the engine, a Santa's sack for one of the carriages and some sweets were added to the final carriage.

I covered the TP rolls with the Mistletoe paper, this time I found that the 6"x6" paper pad was better for this job.

I made tags out of Bazzill card stock and added tabs to the tops and put these inside the pockets.

I also added some photo mats to the pockets out of card stock and decorated with Chipboard elements from the BoBunny Mistletoe collection.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at my Santa's Express altered train as much as i enjoyed making it. Just remember you can add lots of different things to the train carriages - what about a glass of milk and a mince pie for Santa on Christmas Eve (the kids would just love that) or fill the carriages with sweeties and chocolates (you would love that lol), the possibilities are endless.

If you have liked what you have seen and would love to have ago at making one, pop on over to Craft Island (http://www.craftisland.co.uk/catalog/index.php) and have  look at the wonderful range of products they have to offer.

Don't forget leave a comment on each of the Craft Island Design Teams Blogs and you could be in with a chance of winning a fabulous BoBunny "Mistletoe" Collection pack.

Right, next stop for the Santa's Express is over at Kristeen's blog. Just follow the link to see what fab thing she has created using the Bo Bunny "Mistletoe" Collection.  Have Fun and a Very Merry Christmas. Xxx Debs xxX

Oh my goodness! That is stunning! It must have taken you hours (and so much patience.) It will be a family treasure for years. (And I know you said it's not as difficult as it may look, but I'm not convinced.) And then, to make a mini album as well as the train! I'm so excited to have found your blog (now bookmarked) - I only wish I had your energy! Thank you for a really fun blog hop!
